The legislative boundaries around Briarwood are changing.  The new district lines will take effect in the 2012 election cycle. Be informed, know who your representatives are! Every Member Matters!! When parents are involved with their child’s education, the child is more likely to succeed. Joining the PTA demonstrates your support of the mission and goals of the PTA and entitles you to “voice and vote”. Our goal this year is to attain 100% membership which means we have an adult PTA member for every Briarwood student. Remember: Joining does not obligate you to do anything more than that. Only Nine Weeks Until Election Day!! February 2 Campaign Kickoff It was the best kickoff ever!  The King County Library Annex on Newport was packed – it was standing room only!  The event was kicked off by a singing group from Issaquah Valley Elementary called Listen Up.   If you're the parent of a secondary student 11 years or older - save the date for a special free screening of  "Finding Kind" , an award-winning documentary that explores the problem of girl-on-girl bullying. Calling all ARTISTS! The Reflections  Art Program is a National PTA program. Students  have the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition in  any of six areas: dance choreography, film/video, literature, musical  composition, photography, and the visual arts (which include forms  such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage.) The theme for the 2011-2012 school year is  “Diversity Means”. Entries submitted to our local PTA are judged with some select pieces from each  school going on to District and National levels. Construction Update
Construction of the new Briarwood is happening on schedule and we're all watching the progress.  You can check out the changes -in this  aerial slide show.   Here's the latest:   Framing is complete; all but stage, commons and gym and will be 100% by April Steel exterior stairs and bridge will be delivered by April. Off site sewer work is underway and expected to be completed by April. Site concrete will commence mid April. Dear Briarwood families,  You will be receiving a letter from me in your mailbox this week, and I want to provide some background information because it will likely sound very legal (the form and content of the letter, in fact, are regulated by the federal government).
