The "Cultural Kaleidoscope" writing contest invites Briarwood students to explore and celebrate their diverse cultural heritage through the power of storytelling. Imagine you are sharing a special tradition or story from your family's cultural heritage with a new friend. Write a short story or essay about this tradition or story, explaining its significance to you and your family. How does it make you feel connected to your cultural identity? What lessons or values does it teach you?

Contest Guidelines:

Eligibility: The contest is open to Briarwood students (grades 1-5).
Submission Format: Entries must be written in English and submitted as typed documents.
Length: Entries should be between 150-300 words.
Originality: All entries must be original works created by the student.
Content:  All entries must be school appropriate.
Deadline: Submissions must be received by Friday, March 22nd

Judging Criteria:

Creativity and Originality: How uniquely the student explores their cultural heritage.
Clarity and Organization: The clarity of the writing and the organization of ideas.
Cultural Reflection: The depth of reflection on the significance of the tradition or story to the student's cultural identity.
Grammar and Mechanics: Proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Parental Consent: By submitting an entry, parents or guardians consent to the publication of their child's work for purposes related to the contest.

Prizes: Scholastic Dollars will be awarded to the top entry in each grade level category to be spent at the Spring Book Fair in April. All entries will be published on the Briarwood PTA website and winners will be showcased in a PTA-wide email.
