VP of Volunteers

Vice President of Volunteers Shall…

  • Attend all scheduled PTA board and general meetings.  Attend other meetings as necessary.  If attendance isn’t possible, alert the president as soon as possible.  Chronic non-attendance may result in removal from the board.

  • Check PTA VP of Volunteers mail box in the work room on a weekly basis.  When active recruitment is taking place, a daily check may be warranted.

  • Recruit volunteers to support our activities and programs throughout the year.  Recruitment may begin in the spring for the following school year and be completed in the fall.

  • Maintain a separate PTA Chair list with telephone numbers and emails.  Regularly update this and share with the board.

  • Develop and maintain job descriptions for all board and chair positions.

  • A volunteer sign-up sheet should go out in the first day of school packet, be made available on the web site and copies put in the office.

  • Compile sign-up sheets into a larger spreadsheet, which is then shared with the VP of Programs and VP of Fundraising.

  • Maintain volunteer spreadsheet and send out updates as necessary.  The other VPs mentioned above are responsible for contacting the chairs and interested volunteers.

  • Work with the chairs and other VPs to recruit volunteers throughout the year as needed.  It is not the responsibility of the VP of Volunteers to fill the positions, but rather spread the word help is needed.  Working together to fill the positions is a task that is the responsibility of all PTA board members and chairs.

  • Create a monthly volunteer flier that goes home via kidmail alerting families to volunteer opportunities.

  • Maintain a master calendar of all programs and events and check regularly with the chairs of upcoming events to see what the volunteer needs are and communicate that accordingly.

  • Develop and maintain a volunteer recognition program.

  • Pursue other training opportunities as appropriate, including: the Region 2 Conference and the State PTA Convention in the spring..
